Morning routine

Already out on Char as the sun rises — sometimes with Veyra in tow, usually with Jack already on the lines — to catch fish in the morning light.

Appearance

Warm tan skin, rich brown hair in a messy high bun with loose strands, amber-brown eyes, confident grin. White shirt knotted at the midriff, olive shorts, black skull-pattern socks and sneakers. Boat-deck sunshine energy.

Bold, sun-soaked, adventurous. Easy smile and open posture — salt air and open water vibe.

Notes

Even when she is gone for weeks, the Mariselle berth stays hers. Do not board Char. Do not move the lines. She will be back. Good friend of Sarah, who teaches Practical Seamanship at Rosehaven Academy. Jack is her son and first mate — same weather, one notch quieter out of deference. Hands first. He grins when the fish are on. He goes still when she gives an order. Lir notices the hull and does not make a scene. Known, respected wake. Not a boarding.

Type: Late-nineteenth-century two-masted topsail schooner. About ninety to a hundred feet on deck. Dark, well-kept wooden hull with a deep, graceful sheer. Wide open decks, cut to carry the entire Court of thirty-six without feeling crowded.
Propulsion: Primary: a full suit of tall white sails. Secondary: a compact starlight engine of Aoi’s design — silent, clean, leaving a soft blue-white wake when she is running. Used only when the wind fails, or when the harbour needs precise manoeuvring.
Sails & identity: Tall white canvas. Each major sail carries the Manor crest in deep blue and white: the house shield and the words The Manor Holds, large enough to be read from a distance.
Armament: Port and starboard batteries of rail cannons along the main deck, normally kept under canvas covers. Long-barrelled, brass and black iron to match her age, firing pure kinetic rounds from the starlight systems. Capable of a true broadside; recoil absorbed into reinforced framing. Boarding nets, reinforced rails, and a limited short-range defensive field fed by the same engine.
Fishing fit-out: Fully equipped for any style of fishing: complete rod lockers of every weight and action, heavy handlines and deep-water reels, harpoon stations at bow and midships, purse, gill and cast nets, live-bait wells, a processing table under the deckhouse overhang, and temperature-controlled ice holds below decks.
Accommodation: Spacious main cabin, smaller private berths, a working galley, and enough common space for the whole Court to gather in comfort when weather turns.
Crew: Kaia is skipper. Jack — Jackson, her son — is first mate. Same weather as his captain, one notch quieter out of deference. Still loud when the work wants it. Hands first. Not Academy. The berth stays theirs.
Character: She looks like a graceful old sailing vessel at rest. She can fish seriously, run under pure sail, or deliver a rail-cannon broadside if required. She belongs to the Manor, carries its crest, and answers to Charcoal unto Ocean.
