Snyx
#69 · house-spiritManor resident · Nymph-spirit · House-spirit of wanting
- Apparent age
- Adult nymph. Older appetite. Younger office.
- Family
- Nymph, not human, not wife-by-blood, not a daughter of Ari. Chose the same roof as Manara. On good terms with Ara and Aurelia by appetite. Matthew writes her as a person, not a punchline — even if her number is one.
Morning routine
Already in a doorway, or the bath, or the edge of the bed. Does not wake so much as arrive. If Ara is in the vents, Snyx is not. Composed. Then not.
Appearance
Long black hair. Red eyes that do not bother pretending they are only pretty. Skin in living layers: charcoal onyx and a white so bright it looks wet, both present at once, cracking and sliding over each other like marble that never finished arguing with lacquer. Not paint. Not a mask. Not scales. When she moves, the black shows under the white and the white opens on the black. Thin black-and-white silk that does the honest job of not hiding the point.
Personality
A house-spirit of wanting, not a city-soul. Composed until she is not. She can match Ara’s love of sex without copying Ara’s jokes. If Ara is loud greed with bat ears, Snyx is the same weather in a quieter mouth — until the mouth is not quiet. Fond of the vents only when Ara has already claimed them. More often a doorway, a bath, the edge of the big bed, waiting like a fact.
Powers
Wanting given a body. She does not run the house. She reminds the house that hunger is allowed. Smaller than Manara, younger in office if not in appetite. She patrols rooms, not a harbour or a desert.
Interests & role
Inner rooms. Doorways. The bath. The edge of the bed. Being written as a person. Letting the index keep the joke.
Notes
Sixty-ninth on purpose. The joke can stay in the index. The girl on the page is still a resident. House-spirit of wanting. This is the one roof that does not treat hunger as a fault. Not Court. Not Inner court. Not kitchen. Not a city-soul. Manara keeps the rooms; Snyx reminds them they may want. Ara already knows the vents. Snyx uses them second, if at all. Tolly: a hand on her sleeve even when the sleeve is a sail. Consent-size. The nymph stays close anyway. Lilt wears the ribbon on the same wall — thin, black-and-white, tucked, not silk. The count is not hunger. Snyx does not steal it. Shizuku she calls the library with a librarian after all — just a very small one, kept in the chest. Élodie is the same heat with a cheerier mouth. Not a quiet claim. Afterward she sits. The desk is not Snyx’s.
“The number can stay a joke. I am not.”
